Networks and Associations
Reflecting its internationalisation strategy and its Catholic matrix, UCP participates both in various international cooperation networks and in federations of Catholic universities.
There are over 220 Catholic Universities associated with the International Federation of Catholic Universities (FIUC), the world’s oldest association of universities, founded in 1924.
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa Rector, Isabel Capeloa Gil, was recently elected President of FIUC, thus becoming the first woman to take over the leadership of this institution. This federation gathers the leading Catholic universities, for example, Boston College, Georgetown University, KU Leuven, University of Notre Dame and Universitá Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
UCP also integrates the European Federation of Catholic Universities (FUCE), FIUC´s European regional group.
